Refer to Figure 47. Which VASI illustration shows the aircraft ON the glidepath?

Choices

  • A — the far (upper) bar red over the near (lower) bar white ("red over white")correct

On a two-bar VASI, red over white means on glidepath — "red over white, you're all right."

  • C — both bars white

Both bars white means above the glidepath (too high).

  • D — both bars red

Both bars red means below the glidepath (too low) — "red over red, you're dead."

  • B — white over red

White over red is not a normal two-bar VASI on-path indication.

Why

A two-bar VASI shows white over white when high, red over red when low, and red over white when on the glidepath. Illustration A (far bar red, near bar white) is the on-glidepath indication.
