What are the basic VFR weather minimums in Class B airspace?

Choices

  • 3 SM visibility and clear of cloudscorrect

Because ATC separates all traffic in Class B, only clear-of-clouds is required.

  • 3 SM and 500 below / 1,000 above / 2,000 horizontal

Those are the Class C/D/E (below 10,000 MSL) cloud clearances.

  • 1 SM and clear of clouds

That is the Class G daytime low-altitude minimum.

  • 5 SM and 1,000 below / 1,000 above / 1 SM horizontal

Those are the higher-altitude minimums above 10,000 MSL.

Why

In Class B you need 3 statute miles visibility and to remain clear of clouds.
